Udyam Assist API

Introduction

The Udyam Assist Verification API enables real-time verification of MSME (Micro, Small & Medium Enterprise) registrations issued under India's Udyam Assist Platform. Given a valid Udyam Registration Number (URN), the API returns the complete set of structured registration details sourced directly from the official Udyam Assist portal (udyamassist.gov.in).

The Udyam Assist Platform was launched by the Ministry of MSME to facilitate the formalisation of Informal Micro Enterprises (IMEs) typically those exempt from GST bringing them into the formal MSME ecosystem.

Use Case

This API is designed for KYB (Know Your Business) and merchant-onboarding workflows where verification of an entity's MSME status is required. Common scenarios include:

Merchant / business onboarding: Validate that a business holds a genuine Udyam Assist registration before activating an account or extending services.

Priority Sector Lending (PSL): Lenders confirming MSME classification (Micro / Small / Medium) and major activity to qualify borrowers for PSL benefits.

Risk & compliance: Cross-referencing entrepreneur name, enterprise name, and registered address against application data to detect mismatches.

Data enrichment: Populating CRM / underwriting systems with verified NIC codes, organisation type, and registration dates.
